Homemade Rosewater Toner:

Ingredients:

– 1 cup fresh rose petals (organic, pesticide-free)

– 1.5 cups distilled water

– 1 tablespoon witch hazel

– 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (optional for oily skin)

– Airtight glass bottle for storage

Instructions:

1. Gather Rose Petals: Collect about 1 cup of fresh rose petals. Make sure they are organic and free from pesticides.

2. Rinse Petals: Rinse the rose petals thoroughly under cool running water to remove any impurities.

3. Boil Water: In a small pot, bring 1.5 cups of distilled water to a gentle boil.

4. Add Rose Petals: Once the water is boiling, add the fresh rose petals to the pot. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.

5. Strain the Mixture: After simmering, strain the mixture to remove the rose petals, collecting the rose-infused water in a bowl.

6. Cool the Rosewater: Allow the rosewater to cool completely before transferring it to a clean, airtight glass bottle.

7. Add Witch Hazel and ACV: Add 1 tablespoon of witch hazel to the rosewater. If you have oily skin, you can also add 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. Shake the bottle well to mix the ingredients.

8. Store and Use: Store the toner in the refrigerator for an added cooling effect. Apply the rosewater toner to your face using a cotton pad after cleansing, or use it as a refreshing mist throughout the day.

Benefits of Toner:

1. Balances pH Levels: Toner helps balance the skin’s pH levels, promoting a healthy and stable environment. This is particularly important after cleansing, as some cleansers can be alkaline and may disrupt the skin’s natural pH.

2. Cleanses and Removes Residue: Toner can further cleanse the skin by removing residual impurities, oil, and traces of makeup left behind after cleansing. It provides an extra step in ensuring a clean canvas for subsequent skincare products.

3. Hydration Boost: Many toners contain hydrating ingredients like glycerin or hyaluronic acid, helping to replenish moisture and prevent skin dehydration.

4. Prepares the Skin for Serums and Moisturizers: Applying toner before serums and moisturizers helps the skin absorb these products more effectively. It enhances the penetration of active ingredients, maximizing their benefits.

5. Refreshes and Soothes: Toner can have a refreshing and soothing effect on the skin. Some toners contain ingredients like chamomile or aloe vera, which provide a calming sensation.

6. Tightens Pores: While toners don’t physically “shrink” pores, they can temporarily tighten and minimize their appearance. This is achieved by removing excess oil and debris.
